After you’ve watched an innovation video what can you do next? How can you apply what you’ve learned or been inspired to do…and keep learning and being inspired? You can watch more videos or read more on the topic but consider this. We learn most through reflective action, through applying the knowledge we’ve gained, through experiencing and making it real for use. What can you do or take action on?
This Innovation Videos website is a resources to help you stay fresh, on the cutting edge, and up to date with your own learning and personal and professional development. The ability and skill to innovate is becoming more important than ever due to the rapid pace of change in our world. You may not have had a class on “innovation” in school or at your work so it is up to you to gain the knowledge, attitude, mindset, and skill that will allow you to adapt and respond to change with innovation. A first step is to read or watch videos on this site to get inspired and learn ways you can be more innovative. Then, take what you are learning and apply it to your own life and work. Take on an innovative project to create and develop something new that can have an impact, something you may not have ever done before. Perhaps you will get an idea from an innovation video on our site.
After learning on your own look to be a part of a leadership program, workshop, course, or seminar. Join a group or even create a startup with some partners. Involve other people in learning and doing innovation with you. Keep reading and keep listening because there is always opportunity to learn new methods since new technologies are being introduced all the time. When you are just working on your computer, have a video playing to listen and learn. See if you can watch (or at least listen to) a different innovation video everyday to keep developing your knowledge base and leadership skills. But remember…you will need to do something. Take action!
Innovation Video: Should we kill the innovation funnel? The funnel tends to kill breakthrough ideas because you have to decide if you go on before trying… and a breakthrough idea will not be able to guarantee a return at this early stage!
The key is to be able to experiment in a controlled environment, as soon as possible and with a limited cost, to be able to fail without consequences. Then we can see a failure not as a flop but as a method to learn and improve. This “pilot” culture will then allow us to make decisions about an improved idea that we will be able to better defend after experimentation… and not before.
Think big, start small, experiment as soon as possible, fail as soon (and as cheaply) as possible to learn, improve, and try again…
That is why we call it the “ESCALATOR OF INNOVATION”

Innovation Presentation: How to Be Creative. Innovative thinking is one of the top characteristics global businesses look for in their employees. Yet only 1 in 4 of us feel that our creativity is where we want it to be. Why should this surprise us? Almost none of us has ever been taught how to be inventive.

This course is based on an extraordinarily successful program that has been presented at over 70 top American universities. Over the next 8 weeks Dr. Roberta Ness, an internationally renowned physician-scientist and an expert in innovative thinking, provides proven techniques to expand your originality. The method she will teach you is described by the acronym PIG In MuD: Define the problem, identify frames, generate all possible alternatives, incubate, meld to your best ideas, and disseminate. Your mascot will be Eggbert, an uptight, risk-avoidant pig who will learn a thing or two along with you. Along with Eggbert, you will sharpen your powers of observation, making surprising associations, expanding assumptions, pulling questions apart, and thinking backwards. Solving real-world problems in business and science, you will hone your creative thinking skills. In a final group project, you will be amazed by how creative you have become. Since the top projects will be voted up onto the home page and visible to all collaborating companies, you may even come across unique career opportunities when you and your ideas are “discovered.”
What you’ll learn
How to clarify a tricky problem that calls for a new approach
How to identify habitual ways of thinking and find novel alternatives
How to propose loads of innovative approaches using thinking tools such as analogy, reversal, expansion, narrowing, changing point- of view
How to find the best innovative approach to solve specific problems
How to spread your innovation and learn to effectively communicate your novel ideas

“Creativity is simply the rearrangement of the old in a new way” Tweet it out: http://ctt.ec/99A83
My mentor Mike Vance was Walt Disney’s right hand man in charge of ideas and people development of the Disney empire. So when Mike said to me “creativity is simply the rearrangement of the old in a new way,” I knew it was sage advice. It got me thinking, how can apply Mike’s advice to real estate and this is what I came up with:
So if I asked you “What are the areas in your business that you want to have impact on? What are the areas of your business that you want to improve efficiency, increase results, make it better, have it be a better client experience?” I have a feelings you’re going to say everything under the sun and then some.
Here’s how I see it, if people aren’t blown away by you and your efforts, your opportunity in the bottom of the 9th with the bases load to win the game, I’d say that’s an area you can improve upon. And if every week you said, “What’s one change I can make? What’s one little thing I can do to improve the experience of the customer, what is it?”
Start by putting a list of things you want to work on together and every week pick one item to make better. Now remember, ideas are meaningless unless you convert it into a project, so get them up and visual to keep yourself accountable. A lot of our clients have huge boards up call DO-DOING-DONE boards, where there’s a column for DO-what you want to work on, DOING-what you’re working on and DONE-what you’ve completed. I suggest adding a fourth column called MAKE BETTER for all the improvements you want to make. Move one idea from the MAKE BETTER column to the DO column every week. You would want to make it 10x bigger and get it up on your wall to get it really visual.
In closing, here’s what I want you to do. I want you to have weekly creative time–a time for weekly innovation where you’re looking at your business, the areas that you most want to impact and deciding how you can do it better. And then by writing down all the best ideas you’re going to begin to implement another nugget that Mike Vance taught me, which is idea A and idea B can be combine to create a really sexy new project that can help serve more clients, help more customers, improve efficiency, create higher profits, create more sales!

Innovation Seminar: Games of Creativity & Innovation. One of the core components in teaching creativity and innovation is play. It’s the first thing we do in every class to differentiate this part of the day from others for my students, and to set the mood for what is to come.
My friend and colleague, Akshay Sateesh, has been an influence in the games I play with my class, as well as with my clients an in my workshops. From Rocks, Scissors, Paper to TIger, Fireworks, Hello, Akshay has demonstrated that games can help break down barriers, improve communication and facilitate innovation amongst all types of people.
Watch this session to watch our class play his games and how they can impact individual and group creativity.

If questioned today, many people would say the biggest problem facing humanity is Climate Change. According to de Bono, this is not true. The biggest problem facing humanity is our poor thinking… The only bigger problem is that we don’t realise this.
The way our minds work today is simply to recognise and respond to patterns. As our education system was based in religion from the time of the renaissance, we have been taught to think in ways that would be useful to the church, ie. truth, logic and argument.
This system has been excellent and worked for us in many aspects, namely scientific and technological pursuits.
Though however excellent, it is not enough. Historically, we have not been taught creativity, design and perceptual thinking. We are able to identify a problem with ease, however we are not able to effectively create new ways to fix it.
There is no magic to this way of thinking… There are a number of very simple methods we can use in order to achieve this.
Watch the wonderfully entertaining Edward de Bono in his presentation at Creative Innovation 2010 to discover how you can add to your current way of thinking and increase your ability to design and create.
